Strains and Sprains
A Message From Our Sponsor;
While your athlete continues to perfect their skills on the pitch, it is good to know that strains and sprains are common injuries in all sports. If your athlete experiences a strain, this is an injury where a muscle has stretched too much and torn, and a sprain is an injury to a ligament, the tissue that connects bone to bone, has ripped.
Should your athlete at any point be unable to bear weight on their arm or leg after an injury, begin immediate first aid for strains and sprains—Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation or R.I.C.E. After rendering first aid, seek prompt medical attention to determine the severity and ensure proper injury treatment. Quick and proper treatment is the key to limiting your athlete’s time on the sideline. Without the proper care and treatment, strains and sprains can lead to a longer time away from the sport they love.
We’re here to support our youth soccer families on and off the pitch! Should you need to visit our Sports Medicine physicians, you have direct access to schedule an appointment through the portal, where you can select “youth sports” to be seen quickly.
