Keeping Athletes Safe
A Message From Our Sponsor;
Getting on the field can come with some risks. The good news is most sports-related injuries are preventable and Virginia Mason Franciscan Health wants to help keep your young athletes safely on the pitch rather than on the sidelines. The first line of defense against any season or training injuries is ensuring that your athlete is fit to participate by getting an annual physical. We encourage parents and guardians to speak with the team coaches to ensure their athlete has the proper equipment and understands the correct techniques their child should use on the field. As your athlete continues to push themselves on the field, athletes should consider participating in other physical activities to help prevent overuse injuries.
Food is fuel. Provide your athlete with a healthy and well-balanced diet full of fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins, and ensure that they maintain a proper eating schedule. Lastly, if you notice a change in your athlete’s stature, like a limp or persistent pain, please seek an assessment as soon as possible before returning your child to the activity.
We’re glad to be in your corner, helping to support your young athlete as they develop their soccer skills safely.
