Sparta Parent Profile – Tacoma Stars / Tacoma Stars Reserves Nate Ford
Many of our NORTAC families have participated in walkouts at Tacoma Stars and Tacoma Stars Reserves matches this season. Those events are great Club and family outings that keep us all connected to the rich soccer culture here in the Northwest. What makes those events even more exciting is the opportunity to cheer on our very own Sparta parent, Nate Ford as a player for both the Tacoma Stars of the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) and Tacoma Stars Reserves of the Western Indoor Soccer League (WISL). Nate has two children in the NORTAC Sparta Tacoma program, a G11 and B09.
Nate spent his youth soccer years from ages 4 – 18 with the Dupont-Lakewood-Steilacoom Soccer Club. “Those were great years. Lots of great friendships came out of this time with Dupont-Lakewood-Steilacoom,” Nate said.
During this time Nate played high school soccer at Steilacoom High School. After HS graduation, Nate continued playing soccer while attending The Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA from 2003 – 2005. While at The Evergreen State College, Nate was a part of some great teams that participated in the NAIA National Men’s Soccer Tournament. “There’s no comparison to the bond created between teammates while playing in high-level national tournaments,” Nate Said
Nate’s passion for the game of soccer hasn’t slowed leading to a 20-year tenure (and counting!) with the Tacoma Stars / Tacoma Stars Reserves program. Currently, the Tacoma Stars Reserves sit atop the WISL standings. Nate’s 14-goals this season are tied for 4th place amongst league leaders, and he has twice been named WISL Offensive Player of the Week. Nate is splitting his time this season between the Tacoma Stars Reserves and the Tacoma Stars.
When he’s not on the pitch training or cheering on his Sparta kiddos, he enjoys family-time and spending time outdoors hiking, snowboarding and disc golfing.
Please join NORTAC in continuing to cheer on the Tacoma Stars, Tacoma Stars Reserves and Nate Ford this season!
Go Sparta – Go Stars and Go Nate!
