Sparta Head Coach

Communicating to families and players beyond training sessions (minimum once a month team progress reports). 

 

Utilize NORTAC principles of teaching, age appropriate curriculum, player evaluation templates, parent education and behavior management. 

 

Provide a minimum volume of training each week (volume can be increased depending on coach availability):

 

2x75 minutes for U8-U9

2x90 minutes for U10-U12

3x90 minutes for U13 and older

 

Recovery days, periods of the year with less training volume, and optional training are implemented throughout the year (post tournament or double header weekends, public holidays (Memorial Day, Halloween, Easter weekend, Thanksgiving week, last two weeks of December, Spring break etc). 

 

Typically, training sessions for our youngest players (U8 - U12) take place between 5:00 p.m.  and 7:30 p.m. Training sessions for older teams (U13 and older) may take place later (7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.). 

 

Coach games on weekends (usually one Saturday or Sunday per week). Games in the fall for U8-U10 are usually in Tukwila. Most away games in the fall for older groups and the spring for are within a 45 minutes drive. The two main league seasons are fall (September through November) and Spring (January/February through April). Summer includes a minimum of two tournaments and additional scrimmages against other Sparta teams or other local clubs. 

 

Collaborate with Age Group Leader on program management; rosters, training plans, parent communication and scheduling. 

 

Delegate additional roles to families to ensure efficient team functioning: scheduling, rosters, equipment and team bonding activities. 

 

Participate in additional professional development (where possible United States Soccer Federation course fees are currently reimbursed by the club). 

 

USSF pre-requisites for D license preferred; if a candidate is currently without these qualifications a development plan can be implemented. 

 

Maintain up to date safety certifications (Safe Sport etc.)

Compensation is commensurate with level of knowledge (USSF licensing is a key variable), volume of training, ability to develop players and responsibilities within an age group. Red team Head Coaches are “Age Group Leaders” who have additional responsibilities: leading all age group meetings, making final decisions on rosters, and providing continued support for all other coaches in the age group. Baseline compensation: $800 per month.
