Small-Sided / Mod
Small-Sided or Mod soccer is a program for teams U6 through U11. Small-Sided soccer is designed to build individual and team skills as well as an understanding of the rules of the game. The program is called Small-Sided since field and team sizes are smaller than the full-field that older kids use. This maximizes the amount of time each player has with the ball. Here's an overview:
- U7 - 3 players on the field (no goalkeeper) - maximum size of team is 6
- U8 - 4 players on the field - maximum size of team is 8
- U9 - 5 players on the field - maximum size of team is 9
- U10 - 6 players on the field - maximum size of team is 10
- U11 - 9 players on the field - maximum size of team is 14
NORTAC Small-Sided teams will play games against other teams in the Pierce County area on Saturdays from early September through November. U7-10 teams play in a league sponsored by the Tacoma Pierce County Junior Soccer Association (TPCJSA). U11 teams can play in the TPCJSA league or a District leage that is sponsored by District III of the Washington State Youth Soccer Association.
The amount of practice is at the discretion of the coach, but is usually twice per week. Advance registration is required through the process described at the bottom of this page. After registration is closed, coaches will contact players in August to let them know their team assignment.
